Many people make New Year’s Resolutions with the grandest intentions but realize it’s only a matter of time before they will succumb to their old habits. But there are many great things you can do to improve your quality of life that don’t involve joining a new gym or starting a new diet. Home maintenance is a year-round responsibility, and the new year is a great time to finally get around to some of those long-overdue home upgrades and repairs. Our team of pest control specialists at The Bug Man wishes you a happy and prosperous new year, and we’re ready to help you protect your home from termite damage!

We’ve been Arkansas’ most trusted pest control company for over four decades, and we’re proud to serve homeowners throughout central Arkansas. Termites are the leading cause of home structural damage and cost homeowners more money each year than fires, floods, and tornadoes combined, and termite inspection services protect your home investment. Our trained technicians will ensure your home is termite-free, and you’ll enjoy true peace of mind all year long.

Termite activity is very difficult for homeowners to spot on their own, but there are plenty of things you can do on your own to protect your home. For starters, be sure to keep your lawn mowed and your hedges trimmed, particularly if they’re in direct contact with your home exterior. Inspect your home exterior for water damage, particularly near your roofline, eaves, soffits, and fascia boards. If you see any wood rot, replace the wood and apply a fresh coat of paint right away.

You might spot warped wood or wood that makes a hollow sound when it’s tapped if you have an advanced infestation, but you’re not likely to see any actual sawdust. You might also be able to spot “mud tubes” on exterior surfaces. Termites construct mud tubes from a mixture of saliva and frass (droppings) and use them as a source of transportation and nutrients. If you see a spiderweb of mud tubes forming near your home foundation or crawlspace, contact us right away, and we’ll send the termites packing before they can do any further damage!
