Backyard cookouts are an American tradition, and there’s nothing like entertaining guests and amazing them with your specialty cocktails and grilled culinary creations! But if you’re not careful, you and your guests can wind up on the menu as we enter another summer season in The Natural State! Mosquitoes and other outdoor pests are no match for our team of pest control specialists at The Bug Man, and we offer affordable monthly mosquito treatment services each year from April through October!

We’ve been helping Arkansas homeowners keep their homes pest-free since 1976, and our mosquito treatment plans start at $75 a month for an average-sized yard. A monthly treatment plan is a small price to pay to enjoy a pest-free summer, and our technicians are all committed to professionalism, legendary service, and a job well done. Here are a few additional tips to help you mosquito-proof your yard:

Mow your lawn and trim your hedges-Pay attention to your yardwork because a well-kept yard offers less habitat for insects and other flying pests. Mosquitoes lay their eggs in stagnant water, so be sure to empty kiddie pools and pet water dishes after use. If you have a koi pond or an outdoor fountain, be sure to keep the water circulating at all times.

Dress properly for outdoor activities-You should always apply sunblock before applying bug spray, and you’ll want to purchase insect repellent that contains 25-30% DEET. Insects can bite right through spandex, so be sure also to wear tightly woven materials such as denim or cotton and avoid dark colors.

Invest in outdoor cooling fans-Mosquitoes aren’t active when the winds exceed 15 MPH, which explains why you’ve never been bitten on a windy day. Bug zappers are not particularly effective at stopping mosquitoes, and you’re much better off purchasing outdoor fans for your backyard. They’re a powerful weapon against mosquitoes, and they’ll keep you and your family cool when the mercury approaches triple digits this summer!
