It’s easy enough to understand why animals like raccoons, opossums, and squirrels find our attics appealing. They provide plenty of shelter from the elements, ample warm nesting material in your insulation, and an abundance of places to lurk undetected. You might hear them rooting around in your attic while you’re relaxing and watching TV, but not be able to spot them when you go investigating. That’s where we come in!

The Bug Man has been Arkansas’ pest control leader since 1976, and we also offer wildlife removal services. If you hear noises in your attic or if you find droppings or other evidence of activity, give us a call and let us have a look. We have enough experience to help you locate your unwanted visitors and remove them to a more suitable location. There are also plenty of things that you can do as a homeowner to keep your attic and crawl space clear of pests.

Fix water damage immediately-We get a lot of rain in Arkansas, and it can lead to structural damage as the moisture begins to seep into wood. Over time your paint can begin to fade and crack and your eaves, soffits, and fascias can begin to rot. Untreated wood rot and structural settling can create gaps and openings for rodents and larger creatures to slip through. Be sure to fix wood rot when you see it, and put a fresh coat of paint on your home every 7 to 10 years.

Declutter your attic-You probably needed to do this anyway! Excess clutter in your attic provides an abundance of hiding places for rodents and other pests, and makes evidence of activity much more difficult to spot.

Food Sources-Rodents and wildlife like to nest near a good source of food, and an uncovered trash can is like a buffet. Excess shrubbery near your home gives them a place to hide as they dine, and once they get done they’re liable to explore. Making the outside of your home unappealing to pests makes them far less likely to search for ways inside!
