Squirrels are fun to watch in the park, but terrifying to hear in your attic. If you hear them scurrying around while you’re watching TV or trying to sleep, you can only imagine how much damage they must be causing up there. And if a squirrel gets inside, you and your family will suddenly begin to realize how small your home truly is!

If you have squirrels in your attic, The Bug Man is here to help. We’ve been providing quality pest control services in Little Rock since 1976, and we have the skills and experience to help you remove squirrels and other wildlife from your attic or crawl space. If you hear scurrying in your attic or if you see droppings, give us a call. Here are a few easy things you can do on your own to discourage squirrel activity at home.

Outside the home-Trim any tree branches that are in contact with your roof, and prune your hedges. Squirrels are good climbers, but you don’t want to provide easier access. Be sure to inspect your roofline, soffits, and fascia for signs of water damage and wood rot. Repair any damage right away, and be sure to paint the wood to discourage termite activity.

In the yard-Keeping squirrels out of your bird feeder can be challenging, even if your feeder is advertised as squirrel-proof. Be sure to mount your bird feeder away from your home and occasionally sprinkle a mix of vinegar, water, and garlic around the perimeter of your yard to discourage squirrels from entering.

In the attic-Declutter your attic as soon as possible, and keep paper, cloth, and fabric in sealed plastic tubs. If you don’t like the scent of mothballs, you can also use cedar to keep away moths. If you see signs of an infestation, you might be able to get the squirrels to leave by making a lot of noise. You can also purchase sonic animal repellent devices for your attic that emit a constant noise that’s completely inaudible to humans and pets.
