Imagine the scene. You and your family are huddled together under the blankets on the couch. It’s supposed to be a nice quiet night at home in front of your television, but suddenly, you’re all paralyzed by fear. You hear scratching sounds above you, and it can only be one thing: a monster in your attic!

Actually, it’s probably not really a monster. It’s much more likely to be a raccoon, squirrel, or an opossum that has found its way into a warm dark place, and is there to sleep or give birth. They want to be in your home for the same reasons that you do, and are particularly motivated to find warm places to hibernate during the winter months. They don’t mean you any harm, but they’re not always the most courteous house guests, and they definitely don’t chip in on the groceries. But our team at The Bug Man is always a phone call away when you want to send them packing! Contact us at any time that you need Humane animal removal services, and be sure to follow these easy tips to keep wildlife away:

Don’t store trash near your home-Unless you’re required to store your trash cans close to your home between pickup days, you should leave them by the curb or as far away from your home as possible. The lids need to be secured, and the bins should be rinsed with the hose periodically.

Trim vegetation-Eliminating potential food sources is a good first step, and eliminating potential habitat comes next. Trim all of your bushes and shrubs frequently, and make sure that no tree limbs hang over your roof or make contact with your home. Think like an animal, and eliminate the places that seem like comfortable places to live or obvious shelter.

Seal up access points-Vermin can get in through some very small openings, which is why you need to routinely monitor the exterior of your home. Crawlspace doors should be securely fastened with a clasp that can’t be easily opened, and water damage on your eaves, soffits, or fascia should be repaired and repainted right away.
