There’s no such thing as too clean!-Insects are pretty uncomplicated. They look for food, and they look for places to breed. Any time that you see an ant by himself, you usually try to squash him immediately if you suspect that he’s looking for food. You know good and well that if he finds any and the word gets out, he’ll be back with friends. Clean behind and underneath everything, and leave no stone unturned.

Eliminate habitats-Before ants find their way inside, they often set up close to the house. Stay on top of all of your yard work, and keep your lawn mowed. Prune all shrubs and vegetation that’s in contact with the home, and keep an eye on any places where insects or animals might seek out for shelter.

Use baits and traps-Insect traps aren’t very nice to look at, but they are inexpensive, and pretty easy to place out of sight. They won’t stop a massive infestation if it’s already underway, but hopefully will stop the scouts, or carry the bait back to the nest. Most are safe around children and pets, but be sure to review all safety instructions on the box and labeling.
