Cockroaches are among the most resilient and fastest-breeding household pests you’re likely to encounter, and they also spread bacteria and pathogens as they wander through your home’s deepest, darkest recesses. There’s nothing more irritating than watching roaches scurry away when we turn on the lights in our kitchens, particularly after we work so hard to keep our homes clean. But they’re no match for our team of pest control experts at The Bug Man, and we’re always a phone call away if you have any uninvited insects or rodents in your home!

We’ve proudly offered quality, no-contract pest control services in Little Rock since 1976, and we also serve homeowners in Benton, Cabot, Conway, Hot Springs, Pine Bluff, and Searcy. Cockroaches and other pests are most active during the summertime, but they present a year-round threat. The best defense against cockroaches is a good offense, and there are a few easy ways to stop cockroach infestations before they start.

Maintain a rigorous cleaning schedule. One of the easiest things you can do to keep the bugs away is to take out the trash daily, even if the bag isn’t full. “Clean as you go” while preparing meals, and deep clean your kitchen and bathrooms at least once a week.

Eliminate cockroach habitats. Cockroaches prefer dark, moist places close to the ground, and a cluttered kitchen under the sink gives them plenty of potential nesting areas. Cockroaches and other pests can squeeze through the tiniest openings, so be sure also to grab a tube of caulk and reseal any openings where pipes or wires enter your home.

Use repellents and traps. Glue traps are completely safe to use around children and pets, and they’re most effective if they’re replaced every three months. Cockroaches can’t stand the scent of vinegar, which is also a highly effective cleaning product. Mix equal parts white vinegar and water in a spray bottle and use it to wipe down your sink and countertops after every meal. If you have any house plants, be sure to also add some diatomaceous earth to the soil. Diatomaceous earth is made of fossilized algae, which is great for plants and a highly effective natural insecticide!
