bedbugsThe key to a relaxing vacation or an enjoyable business trip is plenty of advance planning. You wouldn’t dream of leaving your home without confirming your airline tickets and hotel reservations, and the world’s top vacation destinations frequently get booked up months in advance. But all good things eventually come to an end, and most of us can’t help thinking of what awaits us at home as we approach the end of our trip. You should always bring back plenty of souvenirs for your friends and co-workers, and it’s equally important to ensure you don’t bring home any bed bugs!

Our team of pest control experts at The Bug Man is always a phone call away if you have any questions about bed bug prevention or need to schedule bed bug treatment in Little Rock. Bed bugs are tiny insects approximately ⅛” in size that feed on human and animal blood, and they prefer to live anywhere where many people sleep. Cleanliness seems not to be an effective deterrent on its own, and you’re just as likely to encounter them at an upscale hotel as you are at a bargain-priced roadside inn. But it’s easy enough to keep your home free from bed bugs if you take a few basic precautions when you travel this spring:

Inspect your bedding as soon as you check-in-As soon as you get to your room, pull back the corners of your sheets and inspect the mattress. You’re more likely to spot bloodstains than bugs, but if you see any evidence of bed bug activity, ask for a different room or seek other accommodations.

Keep your clothing and luggage off the floor– Bed bugs can’t fly, and they’re poor climbers. To avoid bringing home any stowaways, use the luggage rack in your room for your suitcase and hang up your dirty clothing in a laundry bag.

Wash everything once you get home-Double-check the corners of your luggage to ensure you don’t have any stowaways before you pack up, and wash everything you took with you in the hottest water possible when you get home, even if you didn’t wear it on your trip.
