We’ve just “sprung forward,” and the first day of spring is less than a week away! Arkansans are currently enjoying a nice respite from winter weather, and there’s no better time than right now to enjoy many of our favorite outdoor activities. This is also the time of year when insects start becoming more active, and they can take over your home if you fail to take a few basic precautions. The good news is that it’s easy and inexpensive to pest-proof your home, and our team at The Bug Man is here to help!

We’ve been Arkansas’ most trusted pest control company since 1976, and we’re always a phone call away when you’re ready to schedule your annual termite inspection or if you have an unwanted infestation of ants, cockroaches, or other household pests. We also offer mosquito treatment plans each year from April through October so that you can enjoy outdoor cookouts and patio parties without any unwanted guests. Here are a few easy things you can do on your own to keep the pests away this spring:

Keep your kitchen spotlessly clean-The tiniest morsel of food you neglect to clean up can lead to a seemingly endless trail of ants, so be sure to wipe down your sink and countertops after every meal and take out your trash every day. You should also clean behind and underneath your appliances at least weekly, and clean your microwave oven and refrigerator no less than once a month.

Seal up access points under your counter-Our technicians will inspect your home’s exterior during your annual termite inspection, and they’ll notify you if they spot any potential access points. It’s also a good idea to grab a tube of clear caulk and ensure there’s a tight seal around any places where pipes or wires enter your home.

Use baits and traps-You can purchase glue traps at most grocery stores and home goods retailers, and they should be replaced every three months to ensure maximum effectiveness. Some poisons are also designed to stick to insects, so they’ll carry it back to the hive. Most products are safe to use around children and pets, but you should carefully read all the safety instructions before purchasing and using them.
