Do you have an ant invasion? We can help!
Spring is here, and we’re starting to enjoy longer days and warmer temperatures. The daffodils and dogwoods are blooming, the birds are chirping, and we have to mow our lawns for the first time. This is also a great time to get prepared for increased insect activity. Ants are a year-round nuisance, but they’re most active in the spring and summer. If you fail to clean your kitchen properly, you can have an infestation on your hands in no time!
The Bug Man has been Akansas’ pest control leader since 1976, and we have the most experienced and customer-focused professionals in the industry. We’re always a phone call away any time that you have an infestation of ants or other insects, and we offer affordable mosquito treatment plans from April through October of every year. Here are a few tips to help keep the ants out of your home this springtime.
Deep clean your kitchen-The tiniest morsel of food or sticky spot on the counter can draw a line of ants so long that you can’t find the source. If you don’t want to use chemical cleaners on your counters and floors, white vinegar is very effective and completely safe. Fill up a spray bottle and keep it handy when you’re cooking. Clean as you go, wash your dishes immediately, and take out your trash daily whether it’s full or not.
Seal up access points-Mowing your lawn and eliminating standing water is a good way to prevent outdoor pest infestations, but you must always be on the lookout for access points that ants can infiltrate. Make sure that your shrubs and tree branches aren’t in direct contact with the home, and get a tube of caulk to seal up any cracks you see. Repair water damage and wood rot right away.
Use baits and traps-You can purchase bait traps at the grocery store or hardware store and put them in the back corner of your cabinets. Be sure to review the package directions to determine if they’re safe to use around children and pets. You should also add some diatomaceous earth to your house plants, because it’s great for plants and deadly for insects!
