After the winter we just had, most Arkansans are looking forward to getting outdoors before our daily temperatures begin approaching triple digits. Unfortunately, this is also when insect activity starts to increase significantly. A mosquito infestation can make outdoor activities pretty unpleasant, but it’s your yard, and you shouldn’t be forced to stay inside if you don’t want to! Mosquitoes and other pests are no match for our team at The Bug Man, and we’re a phone call away when you’re ready to send them packing for good!

We’ve been offering trusted pest control in Little Rock for over 49 years and also serve homeowners in the communities of Benton, Cabot, Conway, Hot Springs, Pine Bluff, and Searcy! We recommend scheduling an annual termite inspection to protect your investment in your home, and we also proudly offer mosquito treatment services from April to October each year, with plans starting at $90 for an average-sized yard. There are also a few easy things you can do on your own to keep the mosquitoes away this summer.

Clean up your yard–It’s not very neighborly to have an unkempt lawn, and it also provides plenty of potential habitat for mosquitoes and other insects. In addition to keeping your lawn mowed, be sure to prune any hedges or shrubs that are in direct contact with your home, as well as any large tree limbs overhanging or touching your roof.

Eliminate potential breeding grounds–Mosquitoes lay their eggs in stagnant water, so be sure to resolve any drainage problems in your yard and empty kiddie pools and pet water dishes after use. Be sure to also keep your rain gutters and downspouts clear and free from leaves and other debris.

Use natural repellents–An outdoor herb garden is also a great way to take your cooking to the next level, and mosquitoes can’t stand the smell of basil, citronella, mint, lavender, and rosemary. And if you’re looking to add a pop of color to your flowerbeds, Marigolds have mosquito repellent properties, and they also attract dragonflies, which leave humans alone and prey on mosquitoes!
