Every Arkansan expects to encounter mosquitoes and other flying insects when they go hiking, camping, or swimming, but our homes are our castles, and we shouldn’t be forced to deal with them in our own backyards! It’s always irritating whenever mosquitoes crash our outdoor parties, and they can also carry the West Nile and Zika viruses. But they’re no match for The Bug Man!

We’ve been Arkansas’ most trusted pest control company since 1976, and we offer mosquito treatment services in Little Rock from April through October each year. Our plans start at $90 monthly for an average-sized yard, and we also offer single-visit, no-contract mosquito treatment if you’re planning a special outdoor event. Our technicians will treat your yard monthly, and we’re always a phone call away if it needs additional attention between your regular service appointments.

There are also several easy things you can do on your own to discourage insect activity. For starters, you should eliminate their potential habitat and breeding grounds. Mosquitoes lay their eggs in standing water, so keep your rain gutters clean and unobstructed and empty pet food and water dishes after each use. If you have a birdbath, koi pond, or outdoor fountain, you should keep the water circulating and add gravel to any areas where rainwater accumulates.

Leftover coffee grounds are a natural insect repellent, and you can sprinkle them around your yard to keep mosquitoes away. Marigolds and chrysanthemums are a great way to add a pop of color to your garden, and they also emit pyrethrum, a compound used in many commercial bug sprays. There are also plenty of herbs with insect-repellent properties, such as basil, rosemary, and garlic, that you can use in the kitchen and around the house.

There are also a few easy and low-tech solutions. A screened-in porch can potentially add value to your home, and you can also purchase mosquito netting and canopies from most outdoor and home improvement retailers. Mosquitoes also aren’t active when the wind exceeds 15 MPH, and an outdoor fan is a great way to stay cool while keeping the pests away!
