bedbugsWhether you’re taking a richly deserved summer vacation with your family or traveling for business, the last thing you want to do is bring home bed bugs! Bed Bugs are tiny insects approximately ⅛” in size that can lie dormant for months in mattresses and bed linens, and you’re just as likely to encounter them at an upscale hotel as you are at bargain-priced accommodations. But they’re no match for vigilant travelers who “know their enemy,” and our team at The Bug Man is here to help if you have a bed bug infestation in your home!

We’ve been Arkansas’ most trusted pest control company since 1976, and we’re always a phone call away if you need to schedule treatment for bed bugs or other pests. Bed bugs aren’t known to transmit diseases, but their bites can be painful and may cause allergic reactions in some individuals. The good news is that bed bug prevention is easy as long as you take a few basic precautions when you travel!

Inspect all bed linens and upholstery at check-in—The first thing you should do when you get to your room is to pull back the corners of the bed linens to look for evidence of bed bug activity. Just remember that you’re more likely to spot bloodstains than bugs. Be sure to inspect the couch cushions and chair upholstery as well. If you see any bloodstains, ask for a different room or consider switching hotels.

Keep luggage and laundry off the floor during your stay—Bed bugs can’t fly, and they’re poor climbers. Keep your suitcase on the closet shelf or luggage rack throughout your stay, hang up towels after use, and use the laundry bag in your room to hang up your dirty clothing.

Inspect your luggage for stowaways before you leave—As long as you keep your luggage off the floor, you shouldn’t have to worry about stowaways. Still, it doesn’t hurt to check the corners and lining of your luggage when you pack up. Be sure to also wash all the clothing you took with you in the hottest water possible when you get home, whether you wore it or not.
