Three easy ways to pest-proof your home this fall
Fall has officially arrived, and winter will be here before we know it! This is one of the best seasons to spend a little time outdoors, and you’re less likely to be disturbed by mosquitoes. Unfortunately, insects are a year-round problem in Arkansas, and you could wind up with an infestation in your attic or crawl space if you don’t take a few basic precautions. But insects and other pests are no match for our team at The Bug Man, and we’re always a phone call away when you need us!
We’ve been offering trusted pest control in Little Rock for over 49 years, and we also proudly serve homeowners in Benton, Bryant, Cabot, Conway, Hot Springs, Pine Bluff, and Searcy! We offer annual termite inspections to help you protect your investment in your home, and sell brush sweep door seals to help you keep pests out of outdoor sheds and storage buildings. Here are a few easy things you can do to pest-proof your home this fall:
Seal up potential access points—When it starts getting cooler outside, insects and other pests will begin seeking out warm places to sleep and breed. Be sure to replace and repaint any water-damaged wood you find on your home’s exterior right away, and grab a tube of clear siliconized caulk to seal up any openings where pipes or wires enter your home.
Eliminate food sources—There’s no such thing as a kitchen that’s too clean, and you should wash the dishes and wipe down your sink and countertops after every meal. Take out your trash every day, even if the bag isn’t full, and be sure the lid fits securely on your outdoor receptacle.
Use repellents and traps—Store-bought glue traps are safe to use around children and pets, and should be replaced at least every three months for maximum effectiveness. White vinegar is a safe and natural pest repellent that’s also great for quick cleanups, or you can mix a few drops of your favorite essential oil with water and keep it handy in a spray bottle near the kitchen sink.
