Ants may be small, but once they’ve found their way into your kitchen, they can quickly become a huge nuisance. All it takes is a few leftover crumbs or a sticky spot on the countertop to attract a seemingly infinite line of ants, and they can be surprisingly persistent in their pursuit of food sources. But ants are no match for our team at The Bug Man, and we’re always here to help!

We’ve been providing trusted pest control services in Little Rock since 1976, and we also proudly serve the neighboring communities of Benton, Bryant, Cabot, Conway, Hot Springs, Pine Bluff, and Searcy. An annual termite inspection is a great way to protect your investment in your home, and we also offer mosquito treatment plans each year from April through October. An ant problem is always frustrating, but these easy tips will help you stop ant infestations before they start:

Clean up your kitchen after every meal—Always “clean as you go” when preparing meals and avoid letting dishes pile up in the sink. Be sure to also wipe down your countertops and take the trash out at least once a day, even if the bin isn’t full. Be sure to also wipe down pet food dishes after feedings and avoid leaving pet food out overnight.

Store food in airtight containers—It’s not usually a good idea to store food on your countertops, but if you must, be sure to use airtight containers and keep them sealed at all times. In addition to keeping out ants and other insects, it also helps your food stay fresh longer!

Seal up potential access points—Ants and other pests need water as much as they need food, so be sure to fix leaky faucets and pipes right away. You should also grab a tube of clear siliconized caulk and seal up openings around pipes, as well as any cracks or gaps around your kitchen baseboards. Weatherstripping is an inexpensive way to seal up potential insect access points around windows and doors, and it’s also a great way to lower your household energy bills!
