Taking a summer vacation? Watch out for bed bugs!
Your kids are officially out of school for the summer, and it’s time to load up the car and take a well-deserved vacation! A little creativity goes a long way when it comes to vacation planning, and there are plenty of incredible sights to see right here in The Natural State! You’ll all return home with great new memories and suitcases full of souvenirs, but if you’re not careful, you could also wind up bringing home bed bugs! But bed bugs are no match for savvy travelers who take a few precautions, and The Bug Man is always a phone call away to take care of all of your pest control needs!
We’ve offered trusted pest control services in Little Rock since 1976, and we also proudly serve the neighboring communities of Benton, Bryant, Conway, Pine Bluff, and Searcy! Bed bugs are tiny insects approximately ⅛” in size that feed on human and animal blood, and they prefer to live in areas where many people sleep. You’re just as likely to encounter bed bugs at upscale hotels as you are at bargain-priced accommodations, so it’s essential to take a few precautions this summer on your vacation or business trip.
Inspect your room as soon as you check in. Bed bugs are great hiders, and you’re more likely to spot bloodstains than bugs. Be sure to pull back the corners of your sheets and bedding right away, and pay particular attention to the corners of the mattress. If you see bloodstains or any other evidence of bed bug activity, ask for a different room or move to a different hotel if they can’t accommodate you.
Keep luggage off the floor. Bed bugs can’t fly, and they’re poor climbers. Be sure to put your suitcase on the luggage rack during your stay, and keep your clothing in a plastic laundry bag after use.
Inspect your luggage as you pack up. Your final step before you check out should be to inspect the corners of your suitcase for stowaways. And once you get home, wash all your clothing using the hottest water possible, even if you never wore it on your trip. Be sure to also double-check your luggage one last time before putting it away.
