Contact The Bug Man for big savings on your annual termite inspection!
Your home is the most valuable asset that you own, and you want to protect it at all costs. We all know the importance of having insurance to protect our homes from burglaries, accidents, and natural disasters. But one thing that you might not know that the number one cause of expensive property damage is termite damage. In fact, each year, homeowners pay more to repair termite damage than damage from fire and floods combined. That’s why a termite treatment plan is an important part of keeping your home protected.
Our team at The Bug Man has been helping Arkansans keep their homes free from bugs, rodents, and other household pests for over four decades, and we’re a mouse click or phone call away when you’re ready to schedule your annual termite inspection. We also recommend a few easy ways to take a proactive approach to termite control:
Physically inspect your home-Locating termite activity can be challenging at the early stages of an infestation, but if you take a little walk around your home every few weeks, and peek in your garage, attic, and/or crawlspace from time to time, you may find evidence of termite activities. The easiest things to spot are “mud tubes” on the side of your home, which are a mixture of saliva and frass (droppings) that provide the moisture and insulation that termites need to survive as they move in and out of your home. You should also periodically inspect the unpainted wood in your attic or crawlspace for warping or sawdust.
Eliminate standing water sources-Most insects thrive when there’s a lot of humidity and moisture, and if you have drainage problems in your yard, you could be creating a breeding ground after every rainfall. Be sure to empty pet food dishes after feedings, and to keep your rain barrels covered, and away from the home.
Keep your lawn mowed and your hedges trimmed-An unmowed lawn is also a great breeding ground for insects, and the longer that it’s neglected, the happier that they are. Hedges and other foliage directly adjacent to the home should also be trimmed regularly. And if you have long tree branches touching your roof, you’re rolling out the red carpet for termites, ants, and rodents.
