The cockroach: It’s probably one of the most despised — sometimes even feared — pests that can invade our homes and offices. And it’s no wonder, because not only does their mere appearance cause us to shudder, they pose very serious health risks to our families and pets.

Extensively trained professionals at The Bug Man Inc. have been fighting and winning the battle of cockroach control for decades. We’d like to first share with you a few tips to try and keep cockroaches out:

1 Seal and store food properly, especially in kitchens, which also should be cleaned daily because crumbs and trash are more likely to accumulate in these areas.

2 Take out the trash regularly, and store bags in sealed containers.

3 Cracks and holes in your home or office should be sealed, including under cabinets and around pipes and any other openings or cracks.

But remember, once you have an infestation you should contact a professional, and we have proven ourselves as one of the most trusted central Arkansas pest control providers.

Cockroaches multiply very quickly. Once their presence is obvious it’s usually too late to control them with over-the-counter products, which also can be dangerous if not used properly.

Here are just a few health risks these creepy critters pose:

  • A link has been discovered between cockroach droppings or body parts (as well as those of some other pests) and asthma. Cockroach allergens contribute significantly to known cases of asthma, particularly in urban areas.
  • Certain proteins are found in cockroach feces and saliva that also can cause allergic reactions (or trigger asthma symptoms) in some people, especially children.
  • Cockroaches, which are common in crowded cities and most southern regions of the U.S., can spread almost 33 kinds of bacteria including E. coli and Salmonella.

Of course, this is by no means an exhaustive list of problems an infestation can cause. If you need help getting rid of cockroaches or need other pest control services contact The Bug Man here, or call 501-663-9464.
