Summer is officially over, and every Arkansan is ready to enjoy cooler and crisper weather and the end of triple-digit temperatures. There’s nothing like getting outside and doing some “leaf-peeping” in the fall, and many of us enjoy tailgating as much as we enjoy rooting for our favorite football teams! Flying insects start becoming less active in the fall, but that’s little comfort if your backyard cookout gets invaded by mosquitoes. But they’re no match for our team of pest control experts at The Bug Man!.

We’ve been offering trusted pest control in Little Rock for over 47 years and proudly offer mosquito treatment services each year from April through October. Our monthly services start at $85 for an average-sized yard, and we also offer single-visit treatments. There are also a few easy things you can do on your own to eliminate potential insect habitats and breeding grounds.

The first and most important thing is to keep your lawn mowed and prune any hedges or shrubs that are in direct contact with your home. No one enjoys raking up leaves and pine needles in the fall, but one inconvenient weekend can make a huge difference. If you have a fireplace or woodburning stove in your home, be sure to store firewood at least 20 feet away from your back door and keep it elevated off the ground. Finally, be sure to trim any large tree limbs hanging over or in direct contact with your roof because they can serve as a bridge for termites and other pests. If you can’t safely cut down the limbs on your own, there’s no shame in calling a tree service!

Mosquitos lay their eggs in stagnant water, so be sure to empty pet food dishes after use and keep your outdoor rain barrels covered. If you have any areas where water accumulates after heavy rainfall, leftover coffee grounds are an excellent repellent that’s harmless to your children and pets. This is also an excellent time to clear out the leaves and other debris from your rain gutters and downspouts!
